It's amazing how we all want to be sure about everything. We want things and people which are trustworthy. We always want the real thing. We don't mind paying for things which we think will stand the test of time. Yes, everyone wants things which will endure in the hard times. We want things which will, “weather the storm".
When I think of sure things, I think of things which will endure, things which are dependable. So, with the times we are living in and the things yet to come, who or what are you depending on? I know we just had elections and some of you voted on the candidate you hope you can depend on. Well, I hope you got the person you wanted but just know in Psalm 118:8 the word of God says, " It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."
Proverbs 3:5 exalts us to, Trust in the Lord with all our heart and don't lean to our own understanding. He says, "In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths." Thank God for his Word. In order to receive the Sure Thing, you must acknowledge God by receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
In Deuteronomy 31:6 Moses told the children of Israel, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doeth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." God will never forsake his children. He is the Sure Thing.
Just as a reassurance, in Isaiah 41: 17 God is still reminding his people of his assurance. He assured us that, "When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them". Remember God keeps his promises. Heaven and earth shall pass away but his Word will never fail. Trust God. Trust his Word. It is The Sure Thing.
