Braswell awarded Delta Kappa Gamma Grant-in-Aid Scholarship

Each year, Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society provides grant-in-aid awards to

female students at East Georgia State College who plan to enter the field of education. Preference is given to sophomore students in the Beta Beta service area which includes Candler, Emanuel, Johnson, Treutlen counties. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and submit an essay explaining why they majored in education and what they would like to accomplish as an educator. At its April meeting, Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma awarded its 2022 scholarship to Adrianna Raye Braswell. Braswell is the daughter of Matthew and Catina Braswell.

A graduate of Swainsboro High School, Braswell was very active in a number of organizations including Beta Club, Future Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America, Competition Cheerleading squad and the Citizens Bank Student Advisory Board. A star honor roll student throughout high school, she was named a Swainsboro High School Honor Graduate. She was selected to participate in the Fulford Youth Leadership Academy at East Georgia State College. Braswell was also named a Correll Scholar while attending EGSC and participated in numerous volunteer programs including the Bobcat Buddies Program, an afterschool tutoring program at the Fulford Center at EGSC. She is an active member of the Hawhammock Baptist Church where she volunteers in the nursery, the 30-30 Ministries and Judgment House. Braswell was recently accepted to the University of Georgia Mary Frances Early College of Education and will begin study there in the fall.

The Delta Kappa Gamma International, founded in Austin, Texas, May 11, 1929, is an educational, honor, and professional organization for women educators. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society provides members a lifelong association with other women educators engaged in the shared pursuit of common interests, goals and ideals. Delta Kappa Gamma members include classroom teachers, college and university professors, administrators and supervisors, librarians, educational specialists and preservice teachers. Beta Beta Chapter promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. One of the ways the chapter seeks to fulfill that mission is through the Grant-in-Aid program.
