Numbers 21:5 – “and they began to speak against God and Moses. ‘Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?’ They ***complained.*** “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”
6 - So the LORD sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died.
God doesn’t send out poisonous snakes when we complain today, but God hates complaining. He doesn’t hate the people who complain, but he does hate complaining. Imagine that you have given someone a job, and paid them, given them a place to live, given them children, land to use however they choose, give them all the money they have and let them choose how to use it. Imagine giving someone every piece of clothing they have in their closet, giving them all the food they eat and yet they didn't enjoy spending time with you. Imagine how you sacrificed to give someone all that and yet they wouldn't talk to you sincerely. They wouldn't give you the time of day. How would you feel if they complained about how bad everything was? God has given us all that plus he has been giving us our health, giving us a mind to think with, eyes to see, legs to walk , hands to hold, the list goes on and on and on. And yet at times we fall into the trap of believing the lies of the devil ( father of all lies ) . At times we complain when we're going through difficulty. I'm glad he doesn’t bring the snakes out for us! God is okay with us asking why, but not with a complaining Spirit. When we complain we are usually frustrated, tired of the situation and we are usually ungrateful for all that He has given us. It is a sinful state for sure , because He wants us to be content with what He has given us.
