Mr. Anthony Walden "Andy" Worthington, 81, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday morning, July 5, 2020 at his residence. 

Mr. Anthony “Andy” Walden Worthington was born in Emanuel County, son of the late William “Ed” Worthington and Lucille Walden. He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School’s Class of 1956 and a graduate of Emanuel County Junior College after he returned from military service on the G.I. Bill. He had graduated from Brewton Parker College and Georgia Southern University. He managed Sam's Drive-In and was retired from the Middle Judicial Circuit as a state probation officer. Worthington had served as a major in the Georgia State Defense Force. He also coached at Dixie Youth League, volunteered at Swainsboro Primary School, and assisted with the Accelerated Reader program for many years. He was a member of the Peace Officers Association and was a shriner and a masonWorthingson was a member of Kite Baptist Church and attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Graveside services for Worthington were held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend Ray Jenkins and Reverend Louis Pearce officiating.

Pallbearers were Gary Mason, Wendy Underwood, Mark Price, Billy Boulineau, Billy Overstreet, and Jonathon Scott. Honorary pallbearers were the Swainsboro High School Class of 1956.  

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines were enforced which included wearing of masks and social distancing of 6’ apart. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pruitt Hospice, 667 S. Main Street, Swainsboro, GA, 30401 in memory of Mr. Anthony “Andy” Walden Worthington.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Davis Worthington; two daughters, Andrea Elizabeth Worthington Henry and Ree Worthington Berry; son, Samuel A. Worthington; seven grandchildren, one great-grandson; and brother, William (Billy) Worthington
