A Hiding Place

Posted

When I was a child, many decades ago, we did not have social media as we do now. All of our games were usually played outside with our siblings and neighbors. Everything we had as a family was shared.

Therefore, we learned how to live with family and others. The neighbors were safe. Our environment was not as threatening as it is today.

Yes, there were always injustices because that comes from the heart, but I felt safe because of a dad that guarded us and always came to our rescue. Yes, we were a family of fourteen, but we all felt safe. When things didn't go right, we would come home and tell my dad. If we were mistreated in school or any other place, He would come to our rescue.

Nowadays, I don't feel as safe in the world that I am living in. My father and mother are gone. All the safeguards that were in our country are being craftily taken away. Since I am a big girl now, where do I go for safety. Well although mom and dad are not here anymore, they told me about a hiding place where I would find safety and security. That place is in the word and will of God.

For Psalms 46:1 tells us, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble". Yes, we are in trouble in this world, but I have a place of refuge. I have a place of safety. I referred to playing outside as a child. One of my favorite games was "Hide and go Seek". We would try to hide in a place where we wouldn't be found. Well today life is not playing, and I need a real hiding place where I cannot be found. I found that place in Jesus. I found that place in the word of God. In that place is everything I need. For He is described as a solid rock which will never sink or give away.

Remember Psalms 91:1 says, "He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.". Wow, how cool is that. God's shadow will protect you from everything. He will also give you everything you need but you must stay there.

Yes, in these last and evil days, I found a hiding place and that place is in the Lord. Get Him while you have a chance. Isaiah 55:6 exalts us to, "Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near:

Let the wicked forsake His way; and the unrighteous man His thoughts: and let Him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon Him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. "So go to Him and know that He had promised in Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Now that is a supply which will never ever run short. Yes, Jesus is our "Hiding Place". Run to Him now.
