4-H'ers compete in Project Achievement

Emanuel County 4-H co-hosted 4th, 5th, and 6th grade 4-H’ers from 14 counties for the annual Cloverleaf Project Achievement competition held at Metter Middle School on March 11. Emanuel County was represented by 27 competing 4-H’ers, five Teen Leaders, and 15 adult volunteers.

Twenty-five of the contestants placed among the top three in their respective project area. Emanuel County’s first place winners were Kaylee Screws, Arts; Ashlyn Turner, Beef; Adamarie Movan-Esparza, Cat Care; Stetson Sheppard, Computer Information Technology; Audrey Crane, Crafts; Dicey Lane, Creative Stitchery; Edi Vaughn, Engineering & Mechanics; Jayley Hart, Flowers, Shrubs & Lawns; Marley Stewart, Historic People; Drake Clements, Outdoor Recreation; Stella Kate Marsh, Poultry; Brooklyn Lewis, Rabbits; and Alli Woodward, Robotics.

Second place winners were Charlotte Lanier, Arts; Edyn Henry, Health; RJ Brown, Historic People; Sydney Lively, Horse; Banks Burke, Housing; Abby Randall Lewis, Performing Arts-Vocal; Donavan Clements, Poultry; Peyton Deriso, Sheep & Meat Goats; Kynlie Claxton, Sports-Individual; and Caylie Taylor, Veterinary Science.

Third place winners were Trevor Bragg, Poultry and Blane Hutcheson, Wildlife.

Other competitors placing well in the project areas were Benton Bishop, Dog Care & Training and Haley Brantley, Wildlife.

Emanuel County was also recognized as having the second highest percentage of winners at 92.5%.

The Project Achievement competition offers something for just about everyone. From Bicycle to Workforce Preparation & Career Development, there are 63 different categories. Fifty-seven projects include oral presentations. Six projects have special presentations including three performing arts categories, a sewing presentation, and foods labs presenting a no-cook snack. 4-H’ers pick a project area of interest, research the topic, prepare a demonstration, and then share their presentation with others.
