Emanuel County Humane Society’s (ECHS) Barkfest 2022 was held this past Saturday, October 29, at Swainsboro’s Bark in the Boro Dog Park and lots of canines (accompanied by their owners) were present to enjoy a tail-waggin’ good time! The event kicked off at 10 a.m. and featured activities, vendors, K9 Unit demonstrations by Treutlen County Sheriff’s Office, free adoptions from the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter sponsored by the ECHS, a doggy contest and doggy pageant for Mr. and Mrs. Barkfest 2022! The Swainsboro Kiwanis Club was also present selling hotdogs and bottles of water as refreshments.

This year’s event concluded with 10 sponsored adoptions from the Betty Gambrell Animal Shelter and the dubbing of 2022 doggy contest winners and Mr. and Mrs. Barkfest representatives! Tuffy, a rescued pup handled by his owner Abby Bennett, was announced as this year’s 2022 Mr. Barkfest; and Zoey, a full-blooded bully service dog dressed as the jolliest harlequin in town, was announced the 2022 Mrs. Barkfest winning contestant. She was presented in the pageant by her owner and handler, Nell Caneega.
