City council passes 2005 occupational taxes

At its meeting Monday night, Swainsboro city council voted to overhaul its occupational taxes for 2005 with a 50 percent increase. This particular tax has not been changed since 1982. Changes include increasing the $100 minimum fee to $150 a year. Members of the Swainsboro Elementary School Jr. Beta Club recently attended the state convention in Macon and the club placed in five events. Brianna Kirkland, Allison Moore, Justin Geller, Josh Williams, Jonathan Mulberry, and Marcas Batista represented the main characters.
