MIDVILLE—Funeral for Johnny Ray “Buddy” Brinson, 58, was held Saturday, March 18, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Hines Baptist Church with Rev. Homer Aspray officiating. Burial was in Hines Cemetery. He died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Brinson was born on Aug. 6, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He was a retired master welder in the iron fabrication industry. … Read More

GARFIELD—Funeral for Robert “Bob” L. Johnson, 77, was held Saturday, March 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Osborn officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah after a brief illness.

The Knotty Pine 5K Run will again be held as part of the Kiwanis Pine Tree Festival. This year’s 5K Run will begin at Harmon Park at 8 a.m., May 7, and end in front of the Bone Yard Pavilion. The Tigers welcomed the Bleckley County Royals. Unfortunately, SHS suffered a disappointing loss of 12-8. Mitchell Hudson finished 4-5 at the plate including a three-run home run. Love Hill to have musical appreciation

Love Hill Baptist Church of Midville will have a musical appreciation service for Darius R. Harden and W.T. Howard Jr. Saturday, April 2 at 5 p.m. Rev. Anderson Carswell is pastor.

Tech to host community blood drive

On Friday, March 25, nursing students at Swainsboro Technical College will work to make the second blood drive of 2005 as big a success as the first one in January.
