Registration for Swainsboro-Emanuel County Recreation Department’s annual daddy-daughter dance ends today, February 5!

The event will be held Friday, February 7, from 7 until 9 p.m. inside the recreation department gym, located at 632 McLeod Bridge Road in Swainsboro.

The dance is for girls ages 4 to 12 and their daddy (or an adult escort).  The cost is $20 per couple.

Emanuel County NAACP will host a freedom fund banquet Saturday, February 8, at Swainsboro Middle School. The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., and a dinner will follow promptly at 6:30. Emanuel Medical Center receives five-star rating

Emanuel Medical Center has been named a 5 Star Hospital by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, being one of three in Georgia and one of 407 hospitals out of 4,500 hospitals nationwide.

Members of Swainsboro City Council and Mayor Charles Schwabe convened Monday, February 3, at 6 p.m. at Swainsboro City Hall for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Person of the Year, Business of the Year, and STAR students and teachers from area schools were recognized at the 66th Annual Chamber Banquet at the Swainsboro Golf & Country Club.
