Emanuel County Farm Bureau is proud to announce the winners of this year’s middle school essay contest.

Each year, Farm Bureau Women’s Committee sponsors this contest to help students understand the importance of agriculture in everyday life. In doing so, essay contestants must write on a certain topic. The topic this year was, “Describe the relationship between farmers and natural resources.”

Ben Bennett placed first, Peyton Lee placed second, and Kylie Bell placed third. All three of these winners attend David Emanuel Academy. They received a cash prize, and all participants received a certificate.

The Emanuel County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee also announced the winners of the high school art contest for 2020.

Each year, drawings are judged on how well the artwork represents modern agriculture found in Emanuel County as well as their artistic merit.

First place went to Sedrick Frazier. Mikayla Kelly took second, and third went to Jankenya Brown. All three of these students attend Emanuel County Institute. They, too, just like the essay contest winners, received cash prizes.

Because of school closures, committee members were unable to take a photograph.
