Spencer Newton “Junior” Beasley Jr., 89

Mr. Spencer Newton “Junior” Beasley Jr., 89, formerly of Soperton and presently of East Dublin, passed away Friday morning, March 13, 2020 at Scott Health and Rehabilitation Center in Scott.
Born in Emanuel County, he was the eldest of eight children born to the late Spencer Newton Beasley Sr. and Mary Etta McNeely Beasley. The son of a sharecropper, Mr. Beasley grew up in Emanuel County until moving to Treutlen County in the early 1950s. He met and married Treutlen County native Marie Hutcheson and in 1953, they had a son, Newton. Mr. Beasley worked for over 40 years as a painter both in the residential and commercial sector.
He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was especially known for his quail hunting successes.
He was raised in the Pentecostal and Holiness Church and was presently a member of Pleasant Springs Church in East Dublin.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Marie Hutcheson Beasley, who passed away in 1977, and Reba Faye Parker Beasley, who passed away in 2000; a sister, Mamie Clyde Beasley, who passed away in 1957; and an infant son.
He leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Shirley Wright Beasley of East Dublin; his son, Newton Beasley (Connie) of Hampton; Shirley’s children, Kevin Beacham (Janet) of East Dublin and Malehia Young (Carnage) of Minter; four sisters, Elizabeth Smith, of Statesboro, Clara Frances Sineath (Stanley) of Panama City, Florida, Bonnie Sue Noble of Statesboro, and Louise Giles of Alabama; two brothers, William E. “Billy” Beasley (Patsy) of Soperton and Roy Lester Beasley (Ruth) of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, William Beasley (Melissa) of Cleveland, Tennessee and Casey Marie Nix (Michael) of Concord; great-grandchildren, Travis Beasley (Calen), Ashley Newman (Austin), Tanner Beasley, Hayli Nix, and Kristyn Nix; step grandchildren, Casey Green (Timothy), Amy Kinchen (Chad), Kala Kozdron (Zach), Kyle Young (Chelsea); great-great-grandchildren, Harlynn and Hensley Beasley, and Benjamin Newman; step-great-grandchildren, Colby Kinchen, Holton Kinchen, Dylan Green, and Hannah Green; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with his grandson, Pastor William Beasley, and Pastor Timothy “Cricket” Green officiating.
Mr. Beasley was laid to rest in the Hutcheson Cemetery in Treutlen County.
Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
