The Swainsboro Middle School baseball team is off to a blazing hot start on the season, ripping through their first five games without a loss.
Swainsboro swept the Citizens Bank Invitational and have added wins versus Dublin, West Laurens, and Jenkins County since that weekend. A deep pitching staff and a lineup full of potent hitters has made things easy so far in the 2020 season. Lenox Lively and Cody Parks combined to strike out 14 hitters over 5 innings against Metter and against Jenkins County, Kason Palmer limited the War Eagles to 2 hits over 5 innings. Bailey Womack and Parks also combined to no-hit Dublin.
The hitting has been just as strong as the pitching with Lively, Womack, Palmer, Brandon Chapman, Andrew Chalkley, and Kaden Daley providing as much punch as any team in the middle school ranks. Chalkley homered against East Laurens and the offense, to this point, has not shown any soft spots in the order that opposing pitchers can go for routine outs.
Swainsboro will host Dodge County this Monday before traveling to Bleckley County on Thursday.
