James “Big James” Mimbs III, 59

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. James “Big James” Mimbs III, 59 of Adrian, on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Ray Braddy officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike Henry, John Page, Ashley Pollette, Athen Walden, Greg Barwick, and Thomas Sconyers.

Mr. James was the son of James Lamar Mimbs Jr. and Carolyn Flanders Mimbs. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Mr. James had many jobs through the years and was considered a master of many trades, most notably his skill as a heavy equipment operator. He loved hunting, fishing, and many outdoor activities. He had a passion for restoring old vehicles and was more than partial to a Chevrolet. He also loved cooking and his talent for grilling won him several cook-off competitions. He was an avid listener of Classic Country Jukebox on Y96. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

Survivors include his sisters, Melanie Braddy (Ray) of Statesboro and Tracie Mimbs (Johnny) of Adrian; his brother, Joel Mimbs of Adrian; and several nieces and nephews.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
