Funeral services for Betty Lou Moore Meeks, 77 of Swainsboro, were held Monday, March 16, 2020 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverends Allen Meeks, Morris Brantley, and Chaplain Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment followed at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends Monday, March 16, 2020 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. She passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Pruitt Health following an extended illness.

Miss Betty Lou Moore Meeks was born March 1, 1943 in Swainsboro to the late Callaway M. Moore and Jamie Lou Page Moore. She was a 1961 graduate of Swainsboro High School. She had worked at Ithaca and Sportswear as a seamstress and worked for Burger King for 10 years. Meeks taught Sunday school and choir at Kite Church of God, and she led the choir at Eastwood Church of God. She was a member of Eastwood Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sidney Meeks Jr.; son, James Jaryle Meeks; and sister, Christine Peebles.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Meeks of Adrian, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers were Steve Meeks, Andy Meeks, Tim Rountree, Kelmer Durden Jr., Roy Joe Peebles, Jeffery Meeks, Jimmy Page, and Jody Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Page, Ralph Page, and Jamie Minton.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
