A memorial service honoring the life of Robert McDonald Ball, 83 of Swainsboro, will be privately held at a later date. He passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at Emanuel Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Robert McDonald Ball was born October 29, 1936 in Manchester, Oklahoma to the late Charles Ball and Tella Estep Ball. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing. Ball served in the United States Marines for 17 years as a gunnery sergeant; he was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church and, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia Cady Ball of Swainsboro; sons, Jeffery Ball of Missouri, Jon Ball of Kansas, and Tony Ball of Swainsboro; daughter, Penny Hamm of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Taylor Burkamp, Kenny Burkamp, Samantha Beamont, and Stephen Johnson; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
