Second grade students at Twin City Elementary enjoyed a Georgia Day presentation from Betsy Johnson and Jane Durden. During the two visistors’ recent visit to TCE, students and teachers celebrated the 287th birthday of Georgia.

Using a variety of resources, the students were introduced to the symbols and products of Georgia. They were shown the different regions of Georgia as well as the various rivers and counties in the state. They were also taught the Pledge of Allegiance to the Georgia flag, and Johnson taught and led the students in singing the state song, “Georgia On My Mind.” The students were also provided Georgia Day activity booklets that contained a collection of state symbols and information before the visitors departed.

Pictured with Johnson, Durden, and second grade teacher AnnaKate Willoughby are Bruno Lopez, James Morris, Hunter Fullmore, Remington Kirkland, Johnathan McClellen, Liam Simmons, Maggie Rowland, Kayleigh Carver, Bryson Rogers, Lorey McCoy, Mayeli Cruz-Gomez, and Kenneth Gilmore.
