DEA region basketball rundown

On February 3 and February 4, David Emanuel Academy’s varsity basketball teams traveled to John Hancock Academy in Sparta to compete in the region tournament.
Taking the court Monday, the Lady Eagles defeated Nathanael Greene Academy 62–21. Scoring points were Bree Wimberly, 27; Alana Tant, 8; Allie Slater, 5; Liz Dye, Sarah Jo Perkins, and Emma Proctor, 4 each; Molly Hammock and Kaleigh Scarboro, 3 apiece; and Jordyn Bell, 2.
The varsity boys took the win over Faith Academy on Tuesday by a final score of 62–51. Scoring points were Ethan Wells, 28; Randon Williams and Garrett Claxton, 8 apiece; Jesse Moore, 5; and Dylan Bird, Tony Sutton, and Evan Donaldson, 3 each.
The region semifinals were held February 8 in Sparta as well.
Falling short to the John Hancock Lady Rebels, the girls lost by a final score of 42–68. Points were scored by Bree Wimberly, 17; Liz Dye, Allie Slater, Sarah Jo Perkins, and Alana Tant, 5 each; Jordyn Bell and Emma Proctor, 2 apiece; and Ann Carol Daniel, 1 point.
The varsity boys fell short to Nathanael Greene Academy, 50–75. Points were made by Ethan Wells, 22; Evan Donaldson, 7; Randon Williams and Reece Yeomans, 5 each; Dylan Bird, 4; Jesse Moore, 3; and Garrett Claxton and John Kersey, 2 each.
In the region consolation games played February 8 in Sparta at John Hancock Academy, the varsity girls walked off the court defeated by Habersham 47–67, but the varsity boys ended their game victorious against the John Hancock Rebels, 51–41.
Scoring for the Lady Eagles were Bree Wimberly, 30; Liz Dye, 11; Jordyn Bell, 4; and Sarah Jo Perkins, 2.
Posting points for the boys were Ethan Wells, 19; Randon Williams, 18; Evan Donaldson, 6; Dylan Bird, 3; Jesse Moore and Reece Yeomans, 2 each; and Garrett Claxton, 1.
