Somerville, Bostic arrested in March 2019 homicide

On March 27 at approximately midnight, Swainsboro Police Department responded to 540 Gumlog Road to a business known as Gilley’s in reference to a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival responding officers observed a black male, later identified as Jamichael Jarrod Walker, lying outside the business. Further investigation revealed injuries on the body consistent with multiple gunshot wounds. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the ensuing months, investigators with Swainsboro Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, along with the Middle Judicial Circuit’s district attorney’s office, has been working diligently piecing the evidence on the March incident together.
On the morning of December 4, 2019, warrants were secured for the arrests of Da’Korey Somerville and Jerel Bostic for felony murder.
Later that day, Somerville was apprehended in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Attempts were made by authorities on the evening of December 4 to apprehend Bostic, but these attempts proved unsuccessful. However, the following morning, December 5, Bostic turned himself into authorities.
The Swainsboro Police Department commends its staff, along with agents of the Eastman GBI office and other assisting agencies, for the hard work and diligent effort for justice to be served.
This case remains under investigation as evidence continues to come into law enforcement putting more pieces together as to the events leading up to Walker’s death. More arrests are believed to be forthcoming as this case unfolds.
