Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Willie Pierce Bedgood, 77 of Swainsboro, on Monday, October 28, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Webb officiating. Interment followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery with military honors. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers were Mark Smith, Dennis Kirkland, Greg Riner, Josh Bedgood, West Bedgood, and Jeff Newsome. Honorary pallbearers were Denny Riner, Wayne Braswell, Lester Underwood, Eddie Lewis, Greg Newsome, and Jimmy Overstreet.
Mr. Willie Pierce Bedgood was born May 31, 1942 in Louisville, Jefferson County, to the late Charlie Jordan and Mattie Caraway Bedgood. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a truck driver for more than 45 years, driving the last 16 with Walmart and receiving awards for 4 million+ miles accident-free. He was a huge fan of NASCAR racing, Georgia Bulldogs football, and the Braves. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Thomas Bedgood of Swainsboro; three daughters, Becky Wilkerson (Bryce) of Kite, Selena Fordham (Danny) of Adrian, and Jennifer Wammock of Swainsboro; two sons, Gary Bedgood Collins (Julie) of Pascagoula, Mississippi and Maddux Bedgood of Adrian; one brother, C. J. Bedgood (Florence) of Swainsboro; two grandchildren, Skye Clark and Angel Brittingham (Chad); six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
