Holiday decorating contest
It’s that time of the year, once more, that Historic Twin City/Main Street sponsors a Christmas holiday decoration contest to liven up the city and spread Christmas cheer throughout the small town.
Participating individuals who go beyond in decorating their residence in an exceptional and creative approach will receive a winner’s lawn sign and a monetary donation. The winning business will receive a plaque with the name engraved to display at the establishment until the next contest. All participants will be recognized for their hard work during the next Twin City City Commission meeting the first Tuesday of January 2020.
Judging standards will be based on creativeness, lights and decorations, originality, and overall appearance.
To nominate a residence or place of business whose decoration style is impressive and eye-catching, nominations will be accepted beginning the day after Thanksgiving through December 21. Nomination forms will be available at City Hall (1112 Railroad Avenue, Twin City) or the Welcome Center (1111 Railroad Avenue, Twin City). You can also email nominations forms to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parade and tree lighting
In addition to the decoration contest, the Twin City Fire Department will spread Christmas cheer by hosting its annual Christmas parade. Line up will begin at 5 p.m. and the parade is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the city shop on Paradise Road Saturday, December 7. Conclusion of the parade will be at the Welcome Center, where the annual lighting of the tree is to take place following the parade.
Incorporated into the mix of fun at the Welcome Center will be a performance by ECI’s marching band and students of Twin City Elementary School. Photo opportunities with Santa Clause will be available to all as well as hot cocoa and pastries.
