Members of the Wiregrass and Brier Creek chapters traveled to Augusta in September to attend an event honoring Constitution Week as well as the marking of graves for American Revolutionary War Patriots John Bacon, John Bedingfield, Daniel Dill, Ambrose Gordon, and Alexander Lawson.

The event was held at Saint Paul Episcopal Church in Augusta, located downtown near the Savannah River, the site of former Revolutionary War Fort Cornwallis.

Members of the Georgia Society – Sons of the American Revolution participated in the event, namely members of the award-winning color guard, the Elijah Clarke Militia, and the Brier Creek Artillery. Souther Militia Commander Steve Burke fired his 6-pounder naval cannon as other militia fired their 50 caliber flintlock rifles. “Taps” was played to end the ceremony.
