Funeral services for Hyland James Kareem Rountree, 39, were held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Holy Zion Holiness Church in Twin City with Dr. Loretta Ellison Jones presiding. He passed away September 25, 2019 following a brief illness.
Mr. Hyland James Kareem Rountree was born in Candler County February 17, 1980 to the late Annie Willie Rountree and Fletcher A. Owens Sr. He graduated from Emanuel County Institute High School in Twin City in 1998 and was employed for 15 years with the army and air force exchange service in Eulenbis, Germany. Rountree touched so many people with his smile and humble beginnings. His family cannot express enough how he affected their lives and will be sadly missed from their lives.
Survivors include two sons, Zephaniah Rountree of Hephzibah and LaQuin Ducheine of Buffalo, New York; sisters, Debra Ann Madison, Veronica Kennedy LaCue, and Deborah Pierce, all of Twin City, and Teresa Kimbrough-Nobles of Garfield; one brother, Ty Orr Owens of Auburn, Virginia; three nieces; three nephews; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; five aunts; one uncle; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Chris Stanford, Frederick Daughtry, Richard Daughtry, Charles Moody, and Ronnell Russell.
Mosley’s Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
