On Wednesday, August 28, Franklin Memorial Library sponsored a make-and-take needlepoint on canvas workshop. Each participant was presented canvas, needle, scissors, and yarn along with a precut pattern. Phyllis Wells, instructor, guided the attendees through threading the needles, choosing the right yarn, and stitching techniques.
Several of her completed projects were on display to show the variety of possible items that could be transformed with plastic canvas and yarn. Wells gave tips on choosing and purchasing yarn and canvas.
Each participant took home a completed project and canvas pattern to practice on if they desired. All materials were provided free of charge.
This workshop was the first of many to come to provide the adult community with a fun, friendly, and stress-free morning activity.
