by | September 4, 2019 3:18 pm

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September. During this month, the American Library Association and Libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs-up for their own library card.

Throughout the school year, public librarians and library staff will assist parents and caregivers with saving hundreds of dollars on educational resources and services for students. A library card is one of the most cost-effective back-to-school supplies available. It’s Free and provides free access to wi-fi, computers, and so much more.

This year, the Franklin Memorial Library will host its second annual Library Card Sign-Up Extravaganza. This carnival-style event will feature community agencies representatives providing information as well as fun activities, food and prizes. This event will be held Saturday, September 7, from 9:30 until 11 a.m., followed with a monthly family movie feature, this month is Mary Poppins Returns.
