Swainsboro Rotary Club met Monday, July 15, at Catered Creations at noon. New president Kristin Hall opened the meeting, then the prayer, pledge, and Four-Way Test followed.

The speaker for the meeting was Joe Hansley, who was also joined by his cousin, Mikayla Hansley.

Joe is the founder of the Hansley Foundation that awards athletic, academic, and military scholarships to students in the southeastern United States. The organization also provides a mentoring program that will hopefully encourages these youth to continue their education and become productive members of society. The foundation specializes in serving and mentoring youth, taking them to athletic events and on college visits. Joe is originally from Hazlehurst and feels like it’s his calling to serve the youth that might come from homes where there aren’t many opportunities.

Also at the meeting, 2019-2020 club officers and directors were recognized. These individuals and their capacities are as follows: Wade Johnson, treasurer; Guy Singletary, district conference chair; Patti Hendley, public relations chair; Greg Johnson, membership chair; Hall, president; Richard McNeely, sergeant-at-arms; Cason DeVane, past president; and John Allen Bailey, secretary.

The club’s next meeting will be held July 22 at noon.
