A busy Memorial Day weekend for firefighters in Emanuel County

While most families were enjoying the long holiday weekend with various activities, members of the fire service family were kept busy serving and protecting the citizens of Emanuel County
The weekend started off with a call to 911 on Friday afternoon reporting a tractor fire on Polly Circle in Norristown. Firefighters from Norristown Engine 292 and Swainsboro Engine 200 quickly extinguished the fire in a Ford tractor that was pumping water to an agricultural field.
On Saturday at 7:05 p.m., Oak Park volunteers responded to a car in the ditch on I-16 by mile marker 87.
On Sunday at 4:23 a.m., Rescue 1 and Engine 200 were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle crash on Cross-Jones Road (see story on page __) at 1:17 p.m. Swainsboro Squad 1 was dispatched to Emanuel Medical Center for a helicopter landing.
At 2 p.m., Swainsboro Engine 200 investigated a fire alarm sounding at a facility on Highway 297.
At 4:45 p.m., Engine 200 responded to assist EMS on Highway 56 West in Covena.
On Monday morning at 2:39 a.m., Engine 200 responded to a lift assist with EMS.
At 5:47 a.m., Engine 200, along with EMS and sheriff’s deputies, responded to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 57 East in Stillmore.
