Allsup speaks to high school students at EGSC

On April 13, 2018, Sherrie Allsup spoke to Emanuel County 11th and 12th graders from both Swainsboro High School and Emanuel County Institute.

EGSC chess team participates in regional competition

The East Georgia State College Chess Team competed in the 2018 Georgia Collegiate Team State Championship on April 14, 2018 in Roswell, Ga. Swainsboro Primary School students recognize volunteers

Reynolds grabs first place at Sportsman’s meeting

   On Tuesday, April 10, the Emanuel County Sportsman’s Club held its regular meeting, which included the annual Big Buck contest for the 2017-2018 deer season.

   Tim Mason placed first in the firearm entry, and 8-year-old Robert Edward Reynolds won the youth entry with his very first deer.

Moses named SHS prom queen

   At Swainsboro High School (SHS), students and staff are encouraged to “#choosekind” and believe that everyone in the world should receive a standing ovation at least once in their lives. With that being said, Swainsboro High School is proud to announce that student Mykia Moses received her standing ovation while being awarded the title of 2017-2018 prom queen.

Swainsboro wraps up baseball season

   The Swainsboro Tigers (13-13) completed their baseball season last week, winning the season finale in Bleckley County to even their overall record. The Tigers failed to make the playoffs, though, finishing 4-10 in Region 2-AA in last place after losing their final five region games.

   Parent involvement is important to the mission and success of Swainsboro High School (SHS). Each month, one parent is recognized for their involvement in the fulfillment of the SHS goal to enhance parent communication and engagement. 

   The Parent of the Month for March is Angela Bunyon. Her daughter, Illandra says her mom is “always helping [her] in school.”

SHS announce Eighth Grade Parent Night program

   Swainsboro High School (SHS) will be hosting Eighth Grade Parent Night for rising ninth graders on Tuesday, May 1, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. The program will include an overview of the freshman high school experience. Students attending will also receive registration information. For additional information, contact Monica Y.    The deadline for registration forms to participate in the 73rd Annual Grand Parade, slated for May 5, is April 28.

   Cash prizes for non-profit businesses are $500 for first place, $300 for second, and $200 for third. For-profit entry prizes include a first place award of $750, $500 for second place, and $250 for third.
