Official enrollment numbers are in, and East Georgia State College (EGSC) is, yet again, showing an increase in enrollment for Fall 2016. Total enrollment for all three campuses is at 3,152, a 5% increase over last Fall. Swainsboro’s campus is up 19%, Augusta is up 2%, with Statesboro down 5% for Fall 2016.

This growth comes as more students are realizing the importance of attending college and the economic value of choosing EGSC, one of the most affordable institutions in the University System of Georgia (USG).

“EGSC is growing and thriving during a time when similar schools are struggling,” said Bob Boehmer, President of EGSC.

“The Enrollment Management team is excited about the official enrollment numbers for the fall and is working hard to assist our students with reaching their academic pursuits,” said Registrar Tabithia Ross. “I would like to thank the entire staff of the Enrollment Management Department as well as the staff at our Augusta and Statesboro locations for their hard-work and dedication in reaching the college’s enrollment goals for the fall semester.”

Another factor in this increase is the opening of the second residence hall on EGSC’s Swainsboro Campus, Bobcat Villas – West. There are now 412 beds for students who wish to live on campus, and the response has been very good. Students have filled the halls to over 85% capacity, and the Swainsboro campus is definitely showing changes to accommodate the growth. The Richard L. Brown Dining Hall and Campus Café have expanded their hours and offerings, with the Dining Hall now offering all-you-can-eat meals for students and the Café now offering meals on Fridays.

These numbers come on the heels of the Summer semester enrollment report in which EGSC showed the largest percentage of growth among all USG institutions, with enrollment up 15.3%, or 119 students.
