MSgt. Gunn retires

   MSgt. Johnathan B. Gunn retired from the Air Force on July 9,

2011 after 33 years of service. He enlisted on January 15, 1978 and

reported to Lackland AFB in Texas for Basic Military Training.

   Upon graduation from Basic Training, he attended Aircraft

Environmental Specialist training at Chanute AFB. After graduating

from technical school, he reported to the 3211th Field Maintenance

Squadron at Eglin AFB in Florida.

   Sergeant Gunn submitted his resume and entered into the Air

Reserve Technician Program as an Aircraft Electrician at Barksdale

AFB in January of 1982.

   He has an Associate Degree in aviation Maintenance Technology

from the Community College Air Force and has served in two NATO

training exercises in Germany, then was deployed in support of

Bosnia relief efforts at Aviano AB, Italy on two occasions.

   For the past 16 years, Sergeant Gunn has worked as an Aircraft

Electro Environmental Section Supervior.

   His medals include the Meritorious service Medal; Air Force

Achievement Medal with one device; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award

with four devices; Air Force Good Conduct Medal; Air National

Defense Service Medal with one device; Global War on Terrorism

Medal; Air Force Longevity Service with four devices; Arm Forces

Reserve Medal; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; and the Air

Force Training Ribbon.

   Gunn was a graduate of Swainsboro High School He is the son of

John W. Gunn and the late Linnie D. Gunn of Swainsboro.
