Volunteers needed at detention center

Detainees that are incarcerated at the Emanuel Probation Detention Center will be returning to their respective communities after their term of confinement is finished. It is important that during their time of incarceration significant attention be given to issues that will encourage these offenders to return to the community.

Volunteers are needed to enhance programming that is currently provided to detainees. A Volunteer is needed to teach anger management; to provide direction to a choir; and to teach military protocol.

“There are many other ways that volunteers can assist to help these PDC Detainees make productive and positive changes so that, when they are released, they are much less likely to re-offend,” said John Terwilliger, director.

Those that are interested should contact John Terwilliger at 289-2750. Services can be provided at either the Swainsboro or Twin City Unit. Training and orientation for new volunteers is tentatively scheduled at the PDC on Jan. 20, 2005.
