FBC, FUMC to present Christmas concert

The combined choirs and orchestra of First Baptist and First United Methodist churches of Swainsboro will present “Sing We Now Christmas; A Symphonic Celebration in Carols” Sunday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. The service will be held at First United Methodist Church’s sanctuary and will be under the direction of Rev. Gilbert Westberry, minister of music at First Baptist Church.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, especially at Emanuel Medical Center as members of Glad Garden Club decorate the lobby of the hospital. The effort is made possible by the club’s various fund raising events. Among members decorating are, clockwise from bottom left, Pat Head, Helen Center, Martha Brown, Debra Rich and Shelba Youmans.

    The holidays Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa share certain similarities: They are all celebrated in the month of December. Several of the holidays involve getting together with families, and gift-giving rituals. This year, Hanukkah falls on Dec. 8 (first night was Dec. 7).
