WARNER ROBINS—Funeral for Lane E. Brinson, 36, was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins. Burial was at 4 p.m. in Brinson Cemetery in Emanuel County.He died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Portsbridge Hospice of Macon.

Mt. Gilead celebrates Black History

Black History Month will be celebrated at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Sunday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.

On the program will be St. Phillips Lodge and New Hope Lodge #114, Artie Fields, Theresa Burnett, Kim Woods, Annie Williams, The Chosen Few of Metter, Minnie Washington, Joyce Woods and Syvetta Young. Benediction will be by Rev. David Reddick, pastor.

An old-fashioned dinner will be served.

Hearings to be held on building permit fees

During the regular monthly meeting of Emanuel County Commission Monday night, commissioners discussed parity in fees charged for home building permits. The body made reference to the $75 fee charged to place mobile and modular homes on property in the county. Members agreed that the practice should also extend to site built homes and agreed to hold public meetings on the matter before putting it to a final vote.

Don Edwards receives two angler awards from WRD

Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) recently awarded Don Edwards of Garfield two 2004 Angler Awards for reeling in two outstanding catches last year. Edwards caught a 1 lb. 13 oz. hickory shad from the Ogeechee River on March 16, 2004 and a 20 lbs. 4 oz. grass carp from a private pond on Oct. 17, 2004. A S. Main St. man reported someone broke into three of his vehicles, stole the radio and CD player from two cars and damaged the passenger door on one.

A W. MLK woman reported three females, whom she identified, keep harassing her.

It has been almost a year since Emanuel County lost its native son, William Rodriquez “Ra-Ra” Strange, but somehow it seems like yesterday.
