Troop 75 completes orienteering course

Boy Scout Troop 75 scouts completed a one-mile orienteering course during their annual Winter Campout held at Terwilliger’s Pond. Mr. John Torpy, Scout Committee member, began Saturday morning at the First United Methodist Church reviewing the scouts on the basics of using the map and compass. Bangles Salon on West Main Street in Swainsboro has been the scene for many a bouquet of flowers, balloons or Bible verse this week as local residents hope and pray for the safe return of Cindy Lynch.

    MILLEDGEVILLE—Funeral for Vondell Roberson Lowery, 90, was held Wednesday, Jan, 12, 2005 at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Brooks officiating. Burial was in Baldwin Memorial Gardens cemetery. She died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005.

    Mrs. Lowery was a native of Candler County and made her home in Milledgeville before moving to Lyons. She was retired from Central State Hospital.

    Mrs. Frazier was a native of Emanuel County, daughter of the late Osburn O. and Pearl Stewart Brown and wife of the late Harry E. Frazier. She held a Bachelor Of Science degree from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and a Master of Arts degree from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn. She was a retired teacher of Swainsboro Primary School, charter member and past president of Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society. She was a member of Emanuel Retired Teachers Association and Georgia Retired Teachers Association, past member of Adrian Garden Club, member and patron of Emanuel Arts Council and charter member of Friends of the Franklin Memorial Library. Mrs. Frazier was a member of Adrian Baptist Church and Marie Harrison Sunday School Class.

    Pallbearers are Johnson Turner, Billy Walden, Elliott Barwick, Wilbur Stephens, John Neighbors and G. W. Johnson.

    SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Elijah “Buck” Jones was held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Greater St. James Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Moore officiating and Evangelist Lorene Jones assisting. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005.
