    Matthew J. Brown of Swainsboro recently graduated from basic training at Fort Benning. He is currently stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.

    A 2004 graduate of Swainsboro High School, he is the son of Austin and Nancy Brown of Swainsboro. His grandparents are Hilton and Debra Dowd and Mary Dowd, all of Metter.

    Four people were sentenced in Emanuel County Superior Court Friday, Jan. 7 and Monday, Jan. 10 by Chief Judge Walter C. McMillan, Middle Judicial Circuit.

    Donald Ray Moxley, 62

    DUBLIN—Memorial service for Donald Ray Moxley, 62, was held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton with Rev. Albert White Jr. officiating. He died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005.

    Mr. Moxley was a native of Treutlen County and was the son of the late James W. and Mettie Phillips Moxley. He was an industrial electrician and a Baptist.
