Scouts from Troop 75 gave a presentation to Emanuel County Nursing Home residents about scouting, outdoor food preparation, camping and the trip to Philmontin, N.M. Troop 75 is sponsored by First United Methodist Church.Pictured are (L-R)

    The annual Martin Luther King Day Parade will be held Monday, Jan, 17. Line-up is at 12 noon at Varner 4-H Center and the parade will begin at 1 p.m. Grand marshal this year will be Artis (Bill) Kelly.

    Commission, council meetings

    Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. public holiday Monday, Jan. 17, the monthly meeting of Emanuel County Commission has been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. Similarly, the meeting of Swainsboro city council has also been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m.

    SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Horace C. Cavanah Jr. was held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Bunny Hudson and Rev. Louis Pearce officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at University Hospital in Augusta.

    Emanuel awarded $9,505 for food, shelter funds

    Emanuel County has been chosen to receive $9,505 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
