Calvary UMC mission trip

Members of Calvary United Methodist Church’s Youth Group attended a mission trip to

Iager, WV June 12-18. The group joined with Hands of Hope Ministries in aiding residents

of McDowell County, WV. Pictured are Jade Newsome, Clayton Faircloth, Amy Faircloth,

Kristen Branden, Nikki Hancock, Kathy McLeod, Brandon Overstreet, Keith Wright, and

William Warnock.

    team won the Georgia

    Recreation and Parks First

    District Fastpitch Softball

    Tournament. Six teams

    played in the Class B tournament

    hosted by Swainsboro

    Emanuel County

    Parks and Recreation Department

    June 27-29.

    June 27 against Waynesboro

    Rollin Parrish, right, was recently honored

    at a retirement celebration at Swainsboro

    Ford. Parrish has worked at the Ford

    dealership for 15 years and under the ownership

    Girls basketballcamp slated at EGC

    East Georgia College Division of Continuing Education

    will offer a Basketball Camp for girls July 18– 21 from 8:30 to

    11:30 a.m. The camp is designed for girls aged 9 to12 and will

    be led by Dianna Wedincamp, program specialist. “Participants

    will practice dribbling, passing, shooting and guarding

    and learn essential teamwork principles. This will be a great

    Benefits slated for Catherine Joiner

    Mrs. Catherine Joiner of Garfield is married

    to Emmett Joiner Jr. and has four daughters,

    Anne, Lynne, Brooke and Brandi. She is

    a member of Canoochee Baptist Church and

    worked for Durden Banking Company in

    Twin City for many years. She was diagnosed

    with kidney failure in April of 2005.

    Two sentenced in Superior Court

    Two people were sentenced in Emanuel

    County Superior Court Friday, July 8 by

    Judge Kathy S. Palmer, Middle Judicial Circuit.

    Roger Smith Jr. negotiated a plea of guilty

    on one count of aggravated assault. He was

    sentenced to two years in the state penal system

    concurrent to any other sentence presently

    serving.

    River near Herndon Saturday, July 9.
