Greater S. James will celebrate first choir anniversary Jan. 23

Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its first choir anniversary Sunday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. Rev. Bennie Brinson is pastor.

Guest choirs will be St. James Youth, mass and male choirs, St. Paul of Register, Holy of Twin City, Uplifted Voices and Johnson Chapel.

Refreshments will be served.

Billie Overstreet Lamb, 77

COLUMBUS—Funeral for Billie Overstreet Lamb, 77, was held Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 at 12 noon at Bithynia Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital.

Soldiers from Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 214th Field Artillery, Georgia Army National Guard in Waynesboro, performed their Annual Weapons Qualification at Ft. Gordon Jan. 7-9. Soldiers qualified with their individual weapon, the M16A2 rifle. The qualification range consists of 40 multiple pop-up targets varying from distances of 50 to 300 meters. Sgt. Undefeated Pinewood takes two from DEA

Pinewood Christian Academy’s boys and girls basketball teams both remained undefeated as each cruised to victory over David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore last Saturday night.

University of Georgia Head Football Coach Mark Richt will speak in Sandersville Thursday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m. at a fundraiser for The Sunshine House Children’s Advocacy Center in Swainsboro. Tickets are $35 each for the event which also includes dinner, special presentations and door prizes. All $1,000 sponsors for the event will be seated at the Coach’s table and receive a football signed by the coach.

TWIN CITY— Funeral for Pedro Andrews, 88, was held Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Twin City First Baptist Church with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating. Burial was in Poplar Springs Cemetery. He died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at Johnson County Nursing home in Scott.
