Sheriff’s Report: Arrests reported

Emanuel County Sheriff’s deputies reported making several arrests the last two weeks. Cases are:

April 8

A McLeod Bridge Rd. woman reported her neighbor’s children stole her car keys, tools, remote control, dog tags and uniform jacket from her car.

Bernie Givens, 29, 140 Pierce Ave., Swainsboro, was arrested for driving while license suspended.

Derrick Givens, 17, 140 Pierce Ave., Swainsboro, was arrested for obstruction of an officer.

Swainsboro police officers reported a variety of reports this week. Cases are:

April 11

Employee at Super 10 reported someone had broken into the building and stolen $3,107 in items.

Employee at Flash Foods reported someone pumped $6.93 in gas and did not pay.

An Oak St. woman reported receiving harassing phone calls.

A man on Felix St. reported someone stole his CD player and eight CDs from his car.… Read More

Piney Grove to celebrate youth choir anniversary

Piney Grove Baptist Church in the Cross-Green Community will celebrate its youth choir anniversary Saturday, April 23 at 4 p.m. Special guests will be youth choirs of Brinson Hill, Peaceful Zion, Greater St. James, Brinson Rock and Spears Grove, Noah’s Ark A.M.E., Ada Grove Pentecostal and Piney Grove. Presiding will be Diane Mills. Rev. David Edmonds is pastor is Kenneth Johnson is president.
