    John Price receives Walgreens scholarship

    John Price of Twin City was recently recognized by Mercer University’s Southern School of Pharmacy during the School Honors Luncheon in Atlanta. A third-year pharmacy student, Price received a Walgreens Company Scholarship.

    According to Emanuel County Sheriff Tyson Stephens, Emanuel County residents have received telephone calls from someone claiming to work for the Social Security Administration, or that the resident has won a sweepstakes. The caller has knowledge of the person’s name and telephone number, including unlisted numbers, and claims the government owes the resident money or that he or she has won a sweepstakes.     SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Myrtle Peebles-Curry, 79, was held Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Jenkins and Rev. Marty McLeod officiating. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery in Swainsboro. She died Dec. 15, 2004 at Swainsboro Nursing Home after a brief illness.

    LaKeith Hughes recently graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology and has accepted a position with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Industrial Engineering.
