Dr. Willie D. Gunn, president of East Georgia College from 1976-1993, was recently honored at a birthday celebration with a Resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives and with the official title of President Emeritus.     SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Myrtle Tanner Slater, 77, was held Monday, April 11, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Rev. Allen Meeks and Rev. Lamar Little officiating. Burial was in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Lexsy. She died Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Jefferson County Hospital after an extended illness.
