SWAINSORO—Graveside service for Virginia Mozelle Eubanks Bridwell, 88, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at 11 a.m. in Swainsboro City Cemetery with Dr. Bob Blankenship officiating. She died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004 at Jennings Healthcare Center in Augusta after an extended illness. Riverkeeper leads canoe trip

Chandra Brown, Canoochee Riverkeeper, led a canoe trip down the Canoochee River on Saturday, Nov. 6. Canoe trip participants met at East Georgia College and traveled to the starting point, the Daisy-Nevils Bridge in Evans County, to place the canoes in the Canoochee River. The participants canoed about six miles downstream to Groveland on Highway 280.

Christopher Scott, senior at Lovejoy High School, is one of 78 players from across the United States selected to participate in the U.S. Army All American Bowl on Jan. 15, 2005, at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas. He is the grandson of Fannie Scott Hughes of Swainsboro and son of Harold and Tracey Scott. Harold Scott is a 1977 graduate of Swainsboro High School.

Volunteers needed at Detention Center

Emanuel Probation Detention Center in Swainsboro and Twin City needs volunteers to work with adult male detainees. Areas include basic literacy, music, parenting, military protocol, personal finance or job readiness.

One primary mission of the center is to prepare detainees to reenter their communities as more productive and positive citizens. Volunteers can have a tremendous impact in achieving that mission.
