‘Funtastic’ reading plans underway

Libraries across the state are planning ahead for children and Vacation Reading Programs (VRP). Public librarians and professionals are dedicated to promoting literacy for Georgia’s children and families. THOMASTON—Funeral for Harry E. Flanders Jr., 90, was held Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Thomaston with Rev. Bill Barber and Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery at 4 p.m. He died Feb. 16, 2005 at Providence Health Care in Thomaston.

Mt. Gilead celebrates Black History

Black History Month will be celebrated at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Sunday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.

On the program will be St. Phillips Lodge and New Hope Lodge #114, Artie Fields, Theresa Burnett, Kim Woods, Annie Williams, The Chosen Few of Metter, Minnie Washington, Joyce Woods and Syvetta Young. Benediction will be by Rev. David Reddick, pastor.

An old-fashioned dinner will be served.
