Ice, ice, baby!

A blanket of ice greeted Emanuel County Saturday morning as a cold front moved through the area, covering everything in its path including this redbud tree. There were several reports of fallen tree limbs and power outages that day. By late Saturday, however, all the ice had melted as temperatures climbed.

    Daddy-Daughter Dance

    The annual Daddy-Daughter Dance will be held Friday evening, Feb. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Vann Community House in Swainsboro. The dance is for girls, ages 5 to 12, and their daddy (or an adult escort). Pre-registration is required and limited to the first 100 couples. Cost is $10 per couple.

    LYONS—Funeral for Otis “Shorty” Phillips was held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home in Statesboro with Rev. Ken Morgan officiating. Burial was in Emit Grove Church Cemetery. He died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at Toombs County Nursing Home in Lyons.
