EGC to host region 2-A basketball

The Georgia Independent School region 2-A basketball tournament will be played this season at the East Georgia College gymnasium in Swainsboro. The tournament, hosted by Thomas Jefferson Academy, will begin play on Tuesday, Feb. 8 and will conclude on Friday, Feb. 11.

Engineering firm to study Swainsboro bypass

Georgia Department of Transportation has requested that engineering firm, Day Wilburn Associates, Inc. of Atlanta, perform a safety enhancement review of the newly opened Swainsboro bypass at its intersection with State Route 56. The review will include an evaluation of whether a traffic signal is warranted at the intersection. SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Elnita Sanders, 68, was held Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at Trinity Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. H.L. Frison officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Jan. 19, 2005.
