Arts and crafts fair slated May 6-7

The Swainsboro arts and crafts fair will be held May 6-7 at the Boneyard. More than 40 vendors have signed up to attend.

Games and rides will fill Roger Shaw Street (formerly Court Street). Several games are lined up for youth and there will be face painting, sand art and candle art for everyone.

Swainsboro native invents extinguishing system

Vernell King of Swains-boro has developed the Hub Extinguishing System to extinguish fires from inside a truck’s cabin. The system allows a driver of passenger to extinguish a hub fire from a safe distance.

    Betsy Johnson has been named “Woman of the Year” by Beta Sigma Phi. The annual award is voted on by club members. Second Vice-President Beth Kennedy stated that Mrs. Johnson was an excellent choice and chosen by the membership for her involvement in the community and countless hours of service benefiting all citizens of Emanuel County.
