Georgia Southern historian hunting early alumni

Georgia Southern University will celebrate its centennial next year, and historian Del Presley is looking for alumni from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s to help him assemble a history of the institution.

SNELLVILLE—A private memorial was held recently for Betty Sue Moore, 73. She died April 7, 2005.

Mrs. Moore was born on Dec. 21, 1931 to the late Avery Frank Cope and Georgia Oday Cope in Canton, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Moore; and brothers, Kenneth, Ray, Bill and Pete.

Austin Peebles and Richard Livingston are members of the Georgia Generals, a traveling baseball team from southeast Georgia ranked second in the state. The 14 and under team consists of players from Beaufort, Emanuel and Bulloch counties. The team won the USSSA World Series Qualifying Tournament in Statesboro on March 11-13. SWAINSBORO—Funeral for Benjamin Strobridge, 91, was held Sunday, April 10, 2005 at St. Philip Baptist Church with Pastor James Love and Rev. Bennie Brinson officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. He died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Emanuel Medical Center after an extended illness.
