WRIGHTSVILLE—Burial for Erma Lenora Blankenship Jones, 85, was held Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the family plot in Wrightsville. She died July 10, 2005 in Marietta after a long illness.

Mrs. Jones was born to Dr. C.C.. and Mildred Blankenship on Nov. 7, 1919 in Wrightsville. The family moved to Swainsboro where she grew up and went to school. She was a musician and played in a … Read More

Sarah Jane McKay, daughter of Robert and Kristin McKay of Swainsboro, celebrated her birthday at a party at her home July 9. Sarah was 1 year old July 8.

Tables were decorated with “princess” tablecloths.

Guests enjoyed punch, ice cream and birthday cake decorated with “Winnie the Pooh” and “Tiger” figurines and pastel ABC blocks of icing.

Sue Lane Westberry, daughter of Janet Lane Bradham of Garfield and the late R.L. “Buster” Lane, was selected as one of South Carolina’s three science teacher finalists. She was presented the award July 13 at the S.C. Department of Education board meeting.

Mrs. Westberry received her bachelor of elementary education degree and master’s degree from Clemson University. She is a certified teacher in Gifted Education and Middle School Science.
