Red Cross sponsoring ‘Escape for the Holidays’

American Red Cross is sponsoring an “Escape for the Holidays” sweepstakes through Jan. 15, 2005. Any blood or platelet donor or drive participant could win two AirTran Airways round-trip tickets and a Holland America Line Caribbean seven-day cruise for two.

Objective of the sweepstakes is to motivate donors to donate blood and platelets during the holidays. The grand prize may be used for up to one year from the event.… Read More

    DMVS award

    Sara Parker, left, Service Center supervisor at Department of Motor Vehicle Safety, Swainsboro Driver Service, presents employee Jahala Cumbee a Faithful Service Award honoring her for 15 years of service. Senior Driver Examiner Cumbee began with the State as Commercial Driver License examiner July 1988 at Post 33 Milledgeville. Transfered to Post 45 Statesboro in 1993 and recently transfered to DMVS CSC 19 Swainsboro Driver Service.

    The Governor David Emanuel Chapter DAR met Thursday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. at Swainsboro High School for the annual Veterans’ Day program.

    Musical selections by the SHS band, posting of colors by the JROTC Color Guard and “Salute to Veterans and “America the Beautiful” by the SHS band and chorus were included in the special program to honor veterans.
