Sara Tapley, 11-year-old daughter of Darwin and Gennie Tapley of Swainsboro, killed her first deer Saturday, Nov. 27. She killed the three-point buck while hunting with her father and grandfather, Darwin Tapley Sr. Sara killed the deer from 145 yards away with a 243 rifle.

    Hines Baptist Church will have a gospel sing Saturday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. Featured will be several different performers. Rev. Homer Aspray is pastor.

    SHS band concert slated Dec. 16

    Swainsboro High School and Middle School bands will present their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. The concert will be presented at the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Auditorium. A donation of $1 will be accepted at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Jason Wicker Summer Band Camp Scholarship.

    It was a very tough week for the varsity basketball teams at David Emanuel Academy as both the Eagles and Lady Eagles lost all three games that they played.     LGA raises $500 for breast cancer

    The Ladies Golf Association at Swainsboro Golf and Country Club recently held its second annual golf tournament for Breast Cancer Awareness. They raised $500 for the breast cancer foundation.
